  • What is the KonMari Method® and why is it different to traditional organising?
The world of Professional Organisers is very diverse with many different services and methods. Traditional organisation usually involves hiring someone to organise your space FOR you and often this organisation is done by room. The KonMari Method® was developed by the Japanese tidying guru Marie Kondo. Her method starts by envisioning your ideal lifestyle. This not only helps to keep you motivated, but also helps you decide what to keep and what to discard. The next step is to go through all of your belongs according to category. There are 5 KonMari® categories, clothes, books, paper, miscellaneous and sentimental items. We work through each category in order, honing your decision-making abilities and making the decisions about those hard sentimental items that much easier. Once the decluttering is done, we can work on the organisation process. This should be as simple as possible and allow you to quickly see exactly how much you own and know where to put things back. Because YOU have done the decluttering and organising (with assistance and guidance from Organised with KLC) your spaces will work for you and not be overly complicated and lead to rebound. The results will be lasting.
  • What is the difference between ‘cleaning’ and ‘tidying’?
While the terms cleaning and tidying are often used interchangeably, they are in fact very different. Cleaning involves moving dirt by wiping, vacuuming, mopping etc. Tidying involves moving belongs to create order and a more liveable space. Please note, cleaning is outside the services offered by Organised with KLC.
  • Who is Organised with KLC for?
We can work with anyone committed to improving their home, office, or other space to increase its functionality and give them space to live their lives to the fullest. Sellers looking to make their house really shine or want to make the moving process easier.
  • What is a Tidying Festival?
There are two types of tidying – ‘daily tidying’ and ‘special event tidying’. -Marie Kondo Daily tidying is using an item and then putting it back where it belongs. A Tidying Festival is that special once in a lifetime event that will leave you with a clutter free, organised space that is 5 times easier to maintain. Together, we will sort through all of your belongings according to the 5 KonMari® categories (clothes, books, paper, miscellaneous and sentimental items). By going through all your possessions and choosing which to keep, you will free yourself of the unnecessary burden of storing all those unwanted items. It will also give you the space, both physical and mental, to live your best life. This process will cause you to confront yourself and truly explore what it is that makes you happy. Not just that pair of jeans, but every aspect of your life. This is why Marie Kondo titled her first book, ‘The Life-changing Magic of Tidying Up’.
  • How long will this take?
This is a very difficult question to answer. It really depends upon how much you own, how quickly you can make decisions about what you want to keep and how much homework you want to do. What is homework you ask? During your sessions with us, we will work through each of the KonMari® categories. If we have not completed a category by the end of a session, you may wish to finish this on your own before our next session. This way we can move through the categories and your belongings quicker and with less sessions. Alternatively, you may wish to have us present for the whole process to assist you. This is your journey, and we are here to help you succeed. Each session is between 3 and 5 hours long. Together we will decide how long each session will run.
  • Do I need to have read the book before I can do a Tidying Festival?
Basically, no. While having a basic understanding of the KonMari® principles would be beneficial, it is not necessary to have read any of Marie Kondo’s books. We will be there ever step of the way to help you with your journey and guide you through the KonMari Method®.
  • I’m not really sure about this KonMari Method® stuff, can I hire you to just work on a problem area of my home?"
Yes, we also do traditional organisation. We will still apply the KonMari® principles to your space, declutter first and then organise in a way that is both simple and easy to maintain. We also offer custom stickers and provide advice on storage solutions. Please call 0439 823 882 to discuss your specific needs and goals.
  • Will Organised with KLC take away my unwanted items?

We will be able to provide you with a list of places to donate your unwanted good quality items as well as other environmentally friendly options. • Can you help my partner and kids too?
If someone else in your family would like our help, we are more than happy to assist them with their own festival. However, we will not organise another person’s belongings while working on your festival. Everyone’s journey is special and personal. Having said this, once you complete your own festival, you will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to help your family.
  • Is this method just for Minimalists?
No. There are no rules about how much stuff you have to discard. These are your belongings and we will never make you discard anything you don't want to. No matter how old or even broken the object, if it brings you joy, keep it.
